Normal Conflict vs. Bullying

Normal conflict:

-Happens every now and then
-Friends having a disagreement
-Feel badly about the conflict and try to make things better/ solve the problem
-If an action is an accident or unplanned
-Behaviors are not attention-seeking
-Not trying to get power or control



-Behaviors that are mean, over and over, and on purpose
-Target of bullying feels powerless and hopeless
-Not friends with the person(s)
-Threatening to seriously hurt someone’s feelings (i.e. spreading rumors) or body (i.e. hitting)
-Target feels sad, mad, and scared; the bully thinks it’s fun
-Bully wants power, popularity, control, or property
-Bully doesn’t want to stop and solve the problem
